Little Kai from the Philippines with a huge lump on his paw - the action starts now!

Meet Kai. Please, have a moment to get to know him better, because he doesn't know many people. And those whom he knows are unable to help him.

Kai lives in the Philippines near Manila. We have been active in the Philippines for many months - thanks to your help, we managed to save many dogs and cats there. We feed several hundreds of them. The Philippines is a different world…

Let's get to the point though. Kai lived in a very poor family. Today he lives in a clinic, although just a while ago he had a home of his own.

A concerned Filipino animal lover sent a message to the clinic asking for help for this dog with a huge tumor hanging from his paw. Knowing that this type of tumor could even get larger, and realizing that the dog had been suffering for so long carrying this heavy burden, he organized the only rescue he could afford - which is, no less no more, taking the dog away.

It wasn't easy to find the dog, but it turned out he had an owner. Jun, the rescuer, managed to locate the family and learned that the dog, named Kai, was 4 years old. They took him to the clinic, but the vet refused to operate because the dog was too thin to handle the operation.

Kai is still boney and his owner is undecided about further actions. He wants to remove Kai’s tumor, but he doesn’t have the funds for the operation. The family is also afraid of the risk of losing Kai if the operation fails. One thing is certain - Kai will not survive without this surgery.

The clinic didn't force the family to do anything, but they explained that the dog is suffering. However, the final decision belongs to the owners.

Ultimately, the owners agreed to subject Kai to treatment and surgery. The rescuer Jun brought Kai to the veterinary clinic for initial tests and treatment.

There is no doubt that the tumor needs to be removed. Although Kai was tested negative for distemper, he is positive for ehrlichia. He has high infection, anemia, and a moderately low platelet count. He has possible pancreatitis and is very very stressed - probably also due to severe tumor. He also has an infection of his burdened liver.

Most of these things are caused by the very existence of the tumor, hence the need for very urgent and expensive surgery. Of course complications may arise, we cannot rule this out... But the tumor will only grow bigger and more painful.

Kai suffers from pulmonary opacification. This condition needs to be treated firstly, before he can undergo the surgery. These costs cannot be afforded by owners as well.

Please, help Kai. Our activist Janice is keeping an eye on the entire situation and will keep you updated. Nothing will happen without you though...
