That’s how easy it is to sell an animal. It’s much harder to then rebuild an entire world for him from scratch.

And we want to do that for Luka. We want to have time to get to know him. To find out which horse he will stick closest to, whether he will quickly trust his caregivers, or if he will need distance for a long time. To allow him to find his place in a location from which he won’t have to leave again soon. Because continuous dependence on humans also has this good side: when you finally find the right people, you can base the rest of your life on them.

For Luka, a human can finally become predictable. Come at a familiar time. Notice that the horse left food, puts its leg differently, moved away from the herd. React before a small problem becomes suffering. This is the kind of presence we want for him. Also in a few years, when the emotions of this fundraiser subside, and Luka will still need daily care.
