Animals rescued by Centaurus have always lost proper care, and usually a home and dignity, often health.

The horses that Centaurus has rescued over its 16-plus years of operation are horses that have usually served humans all their lives. These horses have ended their careers in either sports or breeding. Many of them worked in tourist resorts, but were so worn out that they could no longer serve their backs.  There are also horses that worked in carriages, worked on farms, or had private owners, but got bored. All of our horses suffered from human neglect and indifference before they came to us.

Buying back a horse, however, is only the beginning of rescue. Monthly maintenance of a horse is an amount ranging from $100 to as much as $500 in the case of a sick individual.
